The Vineyards

Lightband Wines draws its product from a select group of intensively managed vineyards inlcuding Mount Arthur, Snowdens Bush and Brightwater Estates. There has been an intention from the outset to optimize the quality of the grape on the vine through a combination of technology, craft and experience.

Situated in one of the world’s most beautiful wine growing areas, the vineyards cover a variety of free draining gravel and alluvial soils characteristic of the river networks of the area. Controlled irrigation of each vine allows differential watering patterns across the vineyards depending on the individual demands of the soil and varieties. Early in the season, bunch selection ensures yields are kept within the capabilities of the vine to sustain good quality grapes. On-site management focuses on bringing the natural product to peak quality before harvest.

Mechanical and hand-tending practices are employed to ensure the vines’ characteristics are carefully preserved. Machine harvesting of the grapes guarantees rapid processing of the juice and optimum quality.

Now the centre of the annual Brightwater wine and Food festival our Brightwater vineyards form a spectacular back drop to this celebration of the quality and variety of good things grown in a magnificent environment.
