Wine Making
The application of the latest wine-making technology, from harvesting and crushing through to filtering and bottling is controlled in a modern winery with strict control over the fermentation process. The winemaker’s influence, even at the vineyard level, ensures a harmony between the grapes and the finished wine that capture the finest characteristics of the region.
The Varieties
Sauvignon Blanc has justifiably become the flagship of NZ wines internationally. With similar growing conditions to our cousins in Marlborough, our Brighwater vineyards have extensive plantings of Sauvignon Blanc. In addition Pinot Noir contributes complexity and interest in the vineyards along with some Chardonnay. The areas ability to produce delicate and finely flavoured white wines has prompted the recent planting of Pinot Gris.
